This past December, Hometown Hair Co. officially opened its doors. It was built to create a cozy, welcoming space in owner Hannah Pratt’s hometown. Ever since the opening, it has done just that, allowing her to follow her own passion and build something lasting for the people who have supported her from the start.
Pratt’s journey in the hair industry began at a young age. She was always drawn to the beauty industry and the creativity that it allowed her to have. While in high school, she knew that she wanted a career that allowed her to build relationships and make people feel confident about themselves. She explains why this brought her to hair: “Hair felt like the perfect blend of creativity, connection, and purpose.” She enrolled in cosmetology school at the Atlas Academy of Cosmetology, where she learned the foundations of becoming a hair stylist.
Once she learned the basics and earned her licenses, Pratt began working in a salon. She always had a dream to open one of her own, but made it a reality when she realized she could build something meaningful right where she grew up. She explains, “After spending time working elsewhere, I felt a strong pull to bring quality hair services back to my hometown. Concord has always been home to me, and opening a salon there felt like the right way to give back.”
The process of redoing and building her own place has been an overwhelming, but one of the most rewarding processes of her life. It has been hard, but through the help of her many supporters, it was made possible. She credits her fiancé, family, and best friend, Leah Allen, who is a stylist in her space, for their help. Everyone put in countless hours, shared their opinions, and gave their time to make Pratt’s vision come to life. She explains her entire family stood behind her through every step of the process: “They believed in my vision and gave me constant encouragement. I am deeply driven by my family, and their support means everything to me.”

The inside of Hometown Hair Co. is a warm, welcoming space. Since it is a booth rental salon, each stylist owns their own business and rents their space from her. Currently, there are four licensed professionals working in the salon, including Pratt. They specialize in lived-in color, luxury blonding, hand-tied extensions, precision haircuts, men’s cuts, and select beauty services. Their goal is to make long-term relationships with their clients while promoting education and consistency.
Due to her involvement in the community, many students go to Pratt to get their hair done. Avery Arbuckle has been going to her since she was in cosmetology school, sticking with her between the different salons she has worked at. Arbuckle shares why she would recommend her: “She does such a great job with my hair. She has great customer service skills and truly cares about her customers.” She adds that she always knows what she wants and ensures that she has good hair care even after the appointment, so that her hair stays healthy.
Emma Burbo also goes to Pratt for her hair. She says, “I like going to Hannah because of how warm and welcoming she is. I have known her for a while, so it is easy to have conversations with her and feel comfortable.” She explains that Pratt takes such good care of her hair and really focuses on its health. Not only does Burbo think that Pratt is an amazing hairstylist, but she also loves the vibe that is in the new salon. She describes it as, “very aesthetically pleasing and nice. I really love the big windows and the decor in there. It feels so warm and cozy.”
Hometown Hair Co. is not simply a new business in town; it is a sense of community. There is a little something for everyone through the many stylists in the building, and they will ensure that you feel at home. Congratulations to Hannah Pratt on this amazing accomplishment. If you would like to book an appointment with her or one of the other talented stylists stop in to the building on Main Street or visit the Hometown Hair Co. website!
