Meet a superstar senior here at CHS, Tyler Rundle. He is not only excelling at his academics but at athletics, too. He participates in football during the fall, basketball during the winter, and track during the spring. Recently, the boys’ basketball team won their state’s championship, which was an incredibly exciting night for him to be a part of.
The basketball team has had a big impact on Rundle’s life, creating new friendships and a place for him to feel comfortable. Senior Trenton Frazer was a part of this impact. He shares how Rundle’s sense of humor and kindness have formed great memories for him.
Not only does Rundle do sports, but he’s also constantly outside when the weather is nice; he likes to fish and camp. He also likes to play video games with his friends. Rundle also enjoys spending time with his family; one of his favorite memories is camping in the Upper Peninsula. They really enjoyed the beautiful outdoors and sights. His sister, Rachel Rundle, shares that her favorite memories with Tyler were playing outside and laughing as children. She also shares a little bit about their bond, “Tyler is always there for me, even if we fight a lot. He always has my back.”
Rundle’s parents, Sarah Rundle and Travis Rundle, share, “We are inspired by Tyler’s empathy, friendships, and sense of humor.” They include the fact that Rundle won an award in the 5th grade for his ability to be a friend to all. This award meant a lot to the school and the people surrounding Rundle.
In recent years, Rundle has traveled quite a lot. He was born 3 weeks early in State College, Pennsylvania. It has been a running joke throughout his life that it was so he could catch the Penn State v. Notre Dame football game that weekend. When Rundle was 4, he moved to Illinois and attended Bent Elementary School. During his time there, he was on the jump roping team, as well as participated in basketball and gymnastics for the YMCA. From there, he moved to Tennessee, where he finished elementary school and then transferred to St. Andrews-Sewanee for middle school. While in middle school, he took 3 years of Latin as well as ran cross country, played basketball, soccer, and tennis. When Rundle moved to Michigan, he chose Concord for the size, classes, and people. He felt it was a great community, and at Concord, he decided to join football and track, as well as continue his career in basketball.

One of his closest friends, Kadin Shook, who is also a part of the varsity basketball team, wants to let people know how great a human Rundle is. When interviewed, Shook shares, “He’s always a good friend to have around, he’s always there for me, and is a great teammate to have. He’s very supportive and inviting.”
During college, Rundle hopes to study engineering and business. He is most excited to be out in the real world, gaining new experiences and seeing new sights. He’s excited to meet new people and find new friends as well as keep in contact with his current ones. Outside of school, Rundle shares that he is extremely talkative and friendly. He enjoys having conversations with new people.
Mr. Kraabel, who Tyler takes Pre-calc with, wants to add, “Tyler is an enthusiastic student with a strong aptitude for logical and strategic thinking, and it has been a pleasure to watch him grow both academically and personally over the course of the year.”
Rundle is loved by many people here at Concord; his kindness and integrity have created a role model for many to look up to. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for Rundle!
