Senior Awards Night is a cherished tradition where our graduating class is honored for their outstanding achievements throughout their high school careers. This special evening on May 13th serves as a day of dedication, hard work, and talent, which is displayed by our seniors not only in their academic interests but also in their extracurricular activities, leadership roles, and contributions to our school community. It’s a moment to acknowledge the peak of years of effort to celebrate the individuals who have made a significant impact.

Senior Brayden Grindall received many awards, his favorite being for Band and Robotics. Grindall’s experience in these two classes helped form him into the person he is today. He said, “I was interested when I was a freshman, which I enjoyed, and I continued to enjoy. The teachers are great, which helps.” That wasn’t the only thing that surprised Grindall, “I didn’t think I would get many awards, especially the dual award. I also didn’t expect to get anything in the department awards. I did appreciate all the recognition.”
Senior Bella Coppernoll was another student who received numerous awards and scholarships. Coppernoll mentioned, “The award I am proud of is the Myer and Lois Franklin because anyone in Jackson County can get it.” She also says, “It feels incredibly rewarding to be recognized during senior award night. Seeing all of the hard work pay off makes me feel proud of how far I’ve come throughout high school. It’s also very meaningful to know that my teachers, family, and friends have supported me along the way and believed in me.”

Mrs. Kelly Otto, guidance counselor encourages both future students and parents to prioritize applying for scholarships. She explains that, “College affordability looks very different today than it did years ago. Opportunities provided through the three different pathways of the Michigan Achievement Scholarship are helping make college and career training more accessible for students than ever before.” Otto also reinforces that, “We are fortunate to live in a community that strongly supports students through generous local scholarship donations. Many of these scholarship opportunities are not reserved only for those with the highest GPA, but for students who are active in their communities, building skills outside of the classroom, demonstrating strong character, and showing a genuine desire to make a positive impact on others while showing commitment to complete an education plan.”
