This week, we shine the light on Cieara Barrett, a goofy, talented, and considerate student who is also known to many as “Cece”. Throughout her time at CHS, this senior has made a lasting impact on both classmates and the school community.

After graduation, Cece plans to attend Spring Arbor University, where she will study exercise science while continuing her basketball career. Following college, she hopes to pursue a career as a physical therapist. Cece believes that staying focused on schoolwork is just as important as excelling in athletics, and she encourages underclassmen to stay on top of their studies to succeed in high school.

Outside of the classroom, Cece enjoys spending time with friends and family. Some of her favorite hobbies include playing Fortnite with Bella Coppernoll, fishing, golfing, and participating in a variety of sports. Her favorite memory will always be going to the Breslin Center in 2025.
Throughout the years, Cece has been involved in many different athletic activities and thrives in a competitive environment. She takes pride in the dedication and hard work she has put into her athletic career during high school. Reflecting on experiences, Cece says that one of the achievements she values most is the opportunity to grow as both an athlete and a teammate while representing CHS.

Cece’s little sister, Mya Barrett, also shares a passion for sports. The two spend a lot of time practicing together and supporting each other in sports. Mya shared, “I admire Cece’s athletic ability. Moving forward, I hope she has a good basketball career at Spring Arbor College. She is special to me because we have always been close growing up. A memory I will always cherish is our fishing trips with Bella.”
It wasn’t just Mya who had good things to say about Cece. Her parents mention, “Over the years, we have often heard a certain word associated with Cece. Fast, it has had a place in numerous moments in life since she was little. Having several older siblings in cross country, she started running at an early age, and she was pretty fast. Cieara’s played many sports over the years, and her competitiveness in them has been something we’ve definitely enjoyed watching. Now that we are almost to the end of her senior year, the word “fast” has taken on a different meaning for us; it’s all happened and gone by too fast. Cieara has given us many memories to be proud of, not just through her sports and academics, but also through watching her grow over the years into a witty, capable, and determined young lady. We’re hoping that her senior year gives her many fun times and memories to remember when life always seems to go fast.”

Ceces’ favorite teacher is Brianne Fiero. Fiero shares, “I have loved seeing Cece grow over the years. She is a great student, athlete, and friend to many. I think she is incredibly compassionate and kind to everyone who interacts with her. My best piece of advice to her is not to be afraid of growth in college.”
Two of Cece’s closest friends, Bella Coppernoll and Julia Stevens, have shared countless memories with her and love her dearly. Stevens shares what she loves most about her, “Cece is a very funny person. I can always count on her to make me laugh.” Coppernoll agrees that Cece’s goofy personality is one of her best qualities. She says, “She has a really positive energy that makes people want to be around her, and she brings out the best in her friends. She’s supportive, easy to talk to, and always knows how to make people laugh.”
Whether it is in the classroom, on the court, or spending time with the people she cares about most, Cece continues to leave a positive impression on those around her. As she prepares for the next chapter of her life, there is no doubt that her hard work and determination will lead her to continued success
