Senior Macy Sinden has been part of the Concord community since kindergarten. She has attended Concord her whole life, along with some of her relatives. Macy has participated in volleyball, track and field, student council, and national honor society. Sinden received the coach’s award for varsity volleyball her senior year, as well as being in the academic top 10 of her senior class.

Throughout her time at Concord, all of Macy’s teachers have made a positive impact on her life. She especially remembers how Mrs. O made English so fun and interesting. Macy also had Mr. Saucedo for all four years of high school and explained that they have become close, making class more enjoyable for students. Additionally, she wanted to share her appreciation for Mrs. Colangelo, who taught her seminar, honors, and advanced chemistry, explaining that, “Even when the curriculum was hard, she always helped us through it, and she is such a mother figure to everyone.”
When recalling highlights, Sinden’s favorite memory from high school was any volleyball moment this year. “My team for senior year was all my best friends, so it was always fun,” she shares.
Lillie Vandenburgh is Sinden’s best friend: they have been best friends since kindergarten. Lillie adds that she would describe Macy as “ a determined and hardworking person.” Sinden and Vandenburgh enjoy shopping, sports, and spending time together. Vandenburgh shares that, “One of my favorite memories is when we broke the microwave handle off in the middle of the night.” Their moms were friends throughout high school, and then they had Macy and Lillie. They have been inseparable since then. “Macy has grown as a person in more ways than one,” Vandenburgh adds. “She shows confidence in everything she does and is great to be around.”
Adam Miller is a junior who has known Macy for a while and has recently created a bond with Sinden. He adds how Macy is a fun person to be around and makes everyone happy. He would describe her as “an amazing, small, super joyful person who always has a smile on her face and is always making everyone around her happy.” They met through school but weren’t super close until they started hanging out with Sinden’s little brother and hitting baseballs at their house. Miller has enjoyed every time he’s spent with Sinden and will miss being close when she graduates. He reflects, “My favorite memory I have with Macy is when Nate and I were over at her house, and she made us quesadillas and then I stole her mac and cheese and then blamed her brother.”
Junior, Avery Arbuckle, has grown up with Macy and has loved doing so. They participated in sports together, as well as showing animals at the county fair every summer. Arbuckle’s favorite thing to do with Macy is go on their yearly vacations together. They have played sports together and done a lot together since they were younger. “We met right out of the womb and have been close since then. She is one of the most caring people you will ever meet and has grown into such an amazing person,” Arbuckle explains, “She is so hardworking and thoughtful.”
She is determined and excited to go on to another part of her life. As she turns the page, she shares that we shouldn’t take high school for granted. “I know everyone says it, but it’s true, high school flies by.” Sinden expresses, “Since freshman year, I’ve become more self-aware and focused on what I want for my future, creating plans based on my passions.” Sinden plans on going to Jackson College to get her associate’s degree in pediatric sonography. We wish her the best of luck on her journey and can’t wait to see what she accomplishes!
