This week, we are shining the spotlight on a senior like no other: Brayden Grindall. Grindall has made the most of his years at Concord Schools, building strong friendships and creating lasting memories.
Throughout high school, Grindall enjoyed being an active part of the school community, participating in both the band and the robotics team. He shared that robotics has had one of the biggest impacts on his high school experience, from the early mornings and late nights to every challenge that pushed him to improve. Robotics coach Mr. Simmons recalls one of his most impressive moments coaching Grindall: “There was a time when we had other teams come by and compliment us because we had two of the best drivers out there. He and Maddox [Hutchinson] are totally in sync when it comes to driving the robot.”

Outside of the classroom, Grindall has also made his mark through music as a lead guitarist in his band, “The Gentlemen.” Playing the guitar has given him a creative outlet to express himself in a way other than words. The band has not only strengthened his musical skills but also created unforgettable memories. For Grindall, music isn’t just a hobby; it’s been a highlight of his high school experience. Read more about this in Lucy Otto’s new article: “The Gentlemen”.
After graduation, Grindall is planning to attend the University of Michigan for psychology and social work. When asked what he wanted to do after college, Grindall responded with “I want to help people, and help improve their lives.” For Grindall, his goals go beyond a career; it’s about helping others, making a difference, and turning his lessons into support and guidance for those around him. He’s ready to take what he’s learned in high school, not just to create a better future for himself, but also for others.

Grindall credits much of his success in high school to the support he received from one teacher in particular: Mr.Simmons. He is a teacher, as well as a robotics coach, and has had Grindall as a student since the start of his high school career. One piece of advice he has for Grindall through the next intense chapters of his life is, “Just keep your head up. It’s gonna be difficult. There’s always going to be hard times ahead, but just keep treading water and keep moving.”
His closest friends describe him as consistent and wonderful. One of his friends, Maddox Hutchinson, whom he’s known since kindergarten, shares how he may seem quiet at first, but once you get to know him, he is a person you will enjoy being around.
The parents of Brayden had one thing they would like him to hear: “Brayden, as you near graduation, you have achieved and surpassed all of our expectations… always make a difference for others, as this will make the biggest difference in you. Do good, son, and we love you!! Mom and Dad.”

If Grindall had to describe his high school experience in one word, he would choose “rollercoaster.” This is because of all the ups and downs that have shaped him into who he is today. The highs brought confidence, achievements, and laughter, while the lows pushed him to grow stronger, more resilient, and more determined. From the challenges of balancing academics, band, and robotics to the unforgettable memories with friends and teammates, each lesson taught him something different. Whether it was rehearsing for a concert or struggling with a difficult assignment, Grindall embraced each moment while also learning from these experiences.
While his high school career may be coming to an end, he leaves Concord not only with a diploma but also the memories, experiences, and lessons he gained along the way, which will last a lifetime. The ups and downs of high school have prepared him for the responsibilities and opportunities ahead. With drive, ambition, and a strong sense of who he is, Grindall is ready to take the next step and turn his goals into a reality he can stand behind.
We thank Brayden for all the positivity, dedication, and hard work he has brought to Concord. As he moves forward, we know he will embrace every opportunity and make the future his own.
