Jasmine Carr is an involved and kind senior here at Concord High School. Carr participates in sideline cheer, track, and wrestling and exceeds all expectations and goals set for her by her coaches, peers, teammates, and herself. Carr’s dedication to her academics, sports, and attending Jackson College’s Career Center makes Carr even more interesting when you get to know her.
Carr has been a student at Concord Schools her whole life, having older brothers who also attended. Her family is important to her. “My childhood was great, though I grew up with all brothers,” Carr recalls upon being asked.
Carr’s sideline cheer coach, Emma Sigman, has many good things to say about her, having her as both an athlete and student for many years. “Last time I had Jasmine as a student was her freshman year, so it’s been a while,” Sigman states when asked about Carr. “I know [Jasmine] is always punctual, she’s always on her best behavior, and she always does her best.”
Carr has always loved to learn new things, leading to her interest and participation in the culinary arts course at the Jackson College Career C
enter. “I’ve always loved learning how to cook food, so I joined that class to learn more,” Carr explains.
Carr has decided that after high school she will attend Jackson College to become a medical assistant. When asked about her hopes for the future, she says she will work hard and not fail to accomplish her dreams.
One sport that Carr has participated in consistently is wrestling. Her coach admires her for her tenacity. “Jasmine goes above and beyond, regardless of whether or not she always necessarily believes it.” says Carr’s wrestling coach, Dan Claus. “She’s one of our best wrestlers, and it will be hard to let her go.”
For parting words to upcoming freshmen, Carr says simply, “Do your work and don’t fall behind, because it will affect the rest of your high school years.”
Though it will be heavy in our hearts that Carr is graduating, everyone wishes her the best of luck in her college through adult years. We wish you the best!
