Mrs. Amy Korman has been an important and crucial part of our community here at Concord High School over the past five years. Korman’s presence in our school has been one of monumental support and hospitality.
“[Korman] does a lot of things for students who are just not appreciative,” says Biology teacher Brianne Fiero. “Yet she continues to do it.” Korman’s role as academic support in the high school building has been incredibly helpful and important to all students and staff who have ever met her.
“She really pushes me to go harder,” says Korman’s sophomore student, Zion Brown. “She explains more when I don’t know about the assignment.” Brown’s response really encapsulates how much Korman cares for her students. And while she cares so deeply, Korman also enjoys her own hobbies, such as making homemade cards, crocheting, baking, and spending time with her cats and kids.
Korman’s love of travel is shared with many others who meet her, though many do not take the time to get to know and learn about her. “When I was around fifteen years old, I wanted to travel to Tokyo,” she says. “Now, I don’t want to go there anymore. I would like to take a train trip across the United States and Canada border, that or another cruise.” If students, staff, and peers were to sit down and have a thorough and honest conversation with Korman, they would find that she loves many of the same things as many of us.

“I’ve had Mrs. Korman since the start of freshman year.” says sophomore student Brandon Watkins. “[Korman] breaks down the assignments…she kind of makes it a cakewalk.”
Among helping students and spending time doing things she loves, Korman enjoys opening up to others about her hobbies, careers, family, and more.
“My first career was in Home Health Aid for over thirty years,” Korman shares. “I liked it a lot. For the first few years, I worked with a different company than I did the last fifteen years. After that, I stayed in that company and held many different positions.”
Then, unfortunately, Covid-19 hit during Korman’s first career, ending her time there. And though she thoroughly enjoyed her time in the company she worked at, she does enjoy teaching and helping students even more.
“I’ve always loved kids,” Korman states. “Anywhere from young children to adults, it is just the fact that times are changing, and you have to raise kids right. Though it is getting harder and harder in some areas to teach them certain things. I love helping people.”
Korman is truly an inspiration to children and adults alike, always sending good vibes to everyone she meets, all while raising her own children, taking care of pets, maintaining a home, helping others, and making everyone feel welcome.
