An amazing addition to the Concord High School staff is Mrs. Kayla Holder. She has made a remarkable impact on the school and students. Mrs. Holder is an associate teacher who helps out with both the freshmen and sophomores.
Not only is Mrs. Holder a staff member, but she is also a Concord alum, graduating in the Class of 2009, so she had Mr. Couling, Mrs. Colangelo, and Mr. Reniche as teachers. Mrs. Holder attended Jackson College, where she earned her associate’s degree in Criminal Justice. After that, she received her bachelor’s and master’s in social work through Spring Arbor University.

Holder got married in 2018, but she had known her husband, Kenny, for 12 years, and they will celebrate their seventh anniversary in December. They had three beautiful kids. Kinsley is 12, Koi is five, and Knixon is four. She enjoys working out at the gym, especially on nice summer days. She also enjoys crafting bracelets, clay earrings, and other things, like painting and sketching.
Mrs. Holder said, “I thought Concord would be a great place because I loved the community at Concord, and I still do. Also, the staff are amazing! I love the relationships I have built with the students. They are the best!” She continues to impact Concord, especially by giving life lessons. She continues by saying, “One life lesson that I have learned outside of teaching is that mistakes are not a bad thing. I learned and grew through mistakes. I also don’t regret any.”
One person who is impacted by Mrs. Holder working at Concord is JJ Davis. JJ is an extraordinary kid. JJ replied, “Mrs. Holder is nice, she helps me with schoolwork, and she is here when I’m feeling emotional. Mrs Holder impacts my life, especially when I’m struggling with classwork. I don’t want to ask the teacher for help; she comes up to me asking if I need help. She helps me with my grades, too.”
Te’shon Pearson was another student whom Mrs. Holder impacted. He stated, “She helps you with work when you need it. She is very caring. She impacts me at school; she is always there for me to talk to. If she left, I don’t know what I would do. School would be good, but Mrs. Holder makes it better every day.”

Mrs. Holder works with Biology teacher, Mrs. Brianne Fiero. Mrs. Fiero commented, “She is an academic support role for us. We get her assistants with academic needs for some students. We utilize her so we can have a quieter space. That’s really nice to have, so we can have another adult to split the kids with. She is there for academic intervention while we are mid-teaching, so she can help refocus some kids during the lessons. She teaches and goes through problems with kids. She flags certain kids who are below standard, which has been very helpful as well, so she’s been able to do academic support of all sorts.”
Mrs. Holder stays to amaze, putting others first and impacting students and teachers. She holds a spot in everyone’s heart, and we are grateful to have her part of our CHS family.
