The Lady Jacket softball team put together an outstanding performance this Thursday, sweeping Pittsford in a doubleheader and continuing to build momentum as the season progresses. From strong pitching to consistent hitting, the Lady Jackets showed a complete team effort in both games.
Coach Buck, who has now been coaching softball for five years, said when asked what stands out about the leadership on this year’s team, “They are a lot more vocal than last year’s for sure. It’s come with a little bit of testiness, but in working with them to get their energy up and their communication, they’re communicating a little better.”
A major factor in the team’s success was Jordyan Metcalf who delivered an impressive performance on the mound. Metcalf earned the pitching win in both games. Pitching two games in one day is no easy task, but she rose to the challenge and kept Pittsford’s hitters from finding a rhythm. Metcalf stayed mentally strong even when pressure built during innings, showing her ability to lead on the mound. When asked how she handles setbacks in the middle of a game, she said, “I take a deep breath, and I look at my mom because she cheers me up.” Her steady mindset and consistent performance helped the Lady Jackets maintain control throughout the game.
Offensively, the Lady Jackets were led by strong contributions from Haley Stimer and Cieara Barrett, who each recorded three hits over the doubleheader. Their reliable hitting helped jumpstart the offense and produce scoring chances throughout both games. Together, they were key contributors to the Lady Jackets’ overall offensive success.
Haley Stimer also shared her mindset moving forward, saying, “I want to bring up my batting average and make it to districts.” Her focus on personal and team improvement reflects the drive these girls continue to show as the season progresses.
With the sweep complete, the Lady Jackets continue to build momentum as they move forward in the season. Concord softball will now turn its attention to its next challenge, as it is set to host North Adams on Monday. If they continue to combine strong pitching, timely hitting, and teamwork, they will be well-positioned to keep their winning streak going.
