Unique, surprising, and expressive all sum up Isaiah Davis as an artist. He is one of the top artists here at Concord and inspires his peers to always strive for their best work.

Even as a kid, Davis has always used his imagination to create his pieces. And since then, he has worked hard to pursue more complex details and unique artwork. Davis has been in Mr. Couling’s art class during his 7th, 9th, and 11th grades. Throughout that time, Mr. Couling has noticed that “he is very creative in what he picks to do, and his unique style stands out because you can see the attention to detail that he puts into his pieces.” And this year, Couling has noticed that his work is “more refined, detailed, and picking more challenging pieces.”
Whether it is a loud, crowded room or his quiet room, Davis can draw just about anywhere. With that, he has learned to refine his talent. With all of the mediums out there, his favorite is a pencil because of the level of detail he is able to get into each and every piece. Whereas charcoal is his least favorite due to its chalky feeling and the lack of detail. While Mr.Couling has seen all of his work, he still hopes that Davis “continues to push himself to grow and develop more of his natural ability as he continues to grow, even in different mediums.”

Sitting next to him in art class, junior Kadin Shook has been a longtime friend and has seen Davis grow substantially. Although Shook doesn’t enjoy art as much as Davis, he still thinks all of his work is “unique because he draws what other people don’t, like characters from TV shows.”
During his time drawing, Davis has had to learn several tricks to help improve his art. And through that process, he learned that one needs to “draw what you want. Go with your own flow, not others.”
