The dribbling of the ball, the swoosh of the net, the fans cheering. Basketball season is here, and the boys are working hard to make it a great one.

Coach Marcus Gill has a lot to say about this year’s team and how he thinks the season will go. Gill has been a coach for over 20 years and loves it. He says, “Those of us who can’t play coach. I love the game and I can’t play anymore, so immediately when I was done playing I became a coach.”

When Gill was asked how he feels about this year’s team he responded, “Well this year’s team is a lot different than last year’s team. We only got three returners and a bunch of new guys. We got some talent, but talent isn’t everything. It’s about coming together and being together.”

Many of the athletes have been preparing during the off-season. Junior Carter Arbuckle has been preparing by getting stronger and becoming as dominant as he could in post. He is excited about this year’s season and team.

Senior Isaac Waldron says, “The team has been preparing for the season by working on our defense and making sure everyone is doing what they’re supposed to, moving fast, being in the right spots, and most of all doing the little things like talking, pushing ourselves to fix our mistakes and making sure we are in sync with each other.”

The boys think their biggest opponent is going to be Jonesville because they split the conference championship with them last year, and they have all of their players back.

The boys’ next home game will be on December 5th. JV starts at 5:30 PM, and Varsity starts at 7:00 PM. Come cheer on our Yellow Jackets with us!
