Staff Spotlight: Mrs. O
November 1, 2021
Mrs. O is a great teacher here at Concord. But who really knows Mrs. O? What are her likes? What are her hobbies?
A proud graduate from Central Michigan University, Mrs. O worked hard to get to where she is now. “I went to CMU for 5 years for a bachelor’s degree in secondary education with majors in English and History and a minor in leadership. I also have a Masters Degree in Higher Education Leadership from Siena Heights University.”
Although Mrs. O had no siblings, she had a close cousin that was like one. When asked “What did you like to do as a child?” She answered, “I spent a lot of time outside.” In her high school years, she participated in volleyball, softball, and dance. She was also a member of the student council and the National Honor Society.
Mrs. O’s favorite movie is “10 Things I Hate About You”. She also really enjoys the movie “Mean Girls”. She says that she likes many different kinds of music.
Hiking is one of her favorite hobbies. She said her favorite vacation spot is “Anything with good hiking.” When asked, “What is the most ambitious thing on your bucket list?” She replied “I want to visit every national park in the US.” She has already checked four off of her list; Acadia National Park, Smoky Mountain National Park, Rocky Mountain National Park and Yellowstone National Park.
Her favorite part about Concord is the “close-knit community.” She also really enjoys that she gets to have students multiple times throughout their high school years. Many teachers go into teaching to have summers off or so they can spend more time with their kids, but Mrs. O “had some really great teachers in middle school and high school. They really cared about their students.” She wants all of her students to be treated with care; just like her teachers did in middle and high school.
Kayla Miller adds, “Mrs.O is a phenomenal teacher because she is so caring. I have known her for four years now, and every year she has always pushed me to be my best and cared about me.”
Mrs. Sigman says, “Mrs. O is a caring and genuine person whose light shines brightly in everything she does. She’s an amazing mother and teacher and gives her all to her students and family. She is an amazing teacher and mentor, and she quickly became my teacher bestie when I began working at CHS.”
Mrs. O also created two of her own electives: film studies and leadership. Next time when choosing your electives, consider taking one of Mrs. O’s courses.
