This past Saturday, the Concord Quiz Bowl team faced several teams at Reading High School. Their opponents were Reading, Springport, Union City, Bronson, Quincy, and Stockbridge High Schools. Concord placed 8th overall, but that does not tell the total story of how the team played. Every member of the Quiz Bowl team answered their questions carefully and showed great teamwork throughout the day.
The competition consisted of multiple fast-paced rounds that tested students’ knowledge in history, science, literature, mathematics, and current events. Everyone showed their ability to keep their composure in a high-stress environment with difficult questions coming their way.

Their head coach, Mr. Reiniche, stated, “My team competed well; they came in with a good attitude, and they made the effort that I was looking for.” He is more than happy with his team’s performance.
Sophomore Allie Morris was asked to speak about the difficulty of the Quiz Bowl. She said, “Having to know a bunch of random facts is hard, but we practice it all the time with Mr. Reiniche.” Normally, the Quiz Bowl team practices in a classroom at least every other day. They are all asked a series of questions spanning many different categories of knowledge.
Even though they didn’t get first place, it does not mean they did not play well. Every member of the Quiz Bowl team played with immense pressure on them, facing tough opponents. Their head coach couldn’t be prouder of the way they competed this season.
