On Friday, October 24th, the varsity Yellowjackets celebrated Military Appreciation Night and also played their final game of the 2025 football season, ending with a record of 5-4 and winning the game 50-10 against Bellevue, marking a record-breaking year for two individuals. First, Gavin Riske finishes his high school football career with 500 completions. Another notable accomplishment is Trenton Frazer, who finishes his high school career with every record broken for rushing yards in a season. Their achievements not only set new standards but also leave inspiration for future Yellowjacket football players.
Throughout the entire season and past seasons, the team’s dedication paid off with numerous victories and support from the community. Holding each other accountable and sticking to their principles with hard work, discipline, and teamwork has helped these boys achieve tremendous achievements throughout their careers. Gavin Riske, who has been the Varsity quarterback, shares his accomplishments. He explains, “Over the past 4 years, it was a challenge to get to that point. After my freshman year, I only played the last 4 games on varsity, and after that, I knew it was a big difference from JV. I felt like I was not physically or mentally ready for that yet. So over the summer, I got a personal trainer, and I gained some weight and worked on my form and footwork.

After the first game of my sophomore year, we lost by two touchdowns, so I watched a lot of film, Coach Wiesel, and I worked a lot on my footwork and arm strength. And then the second game, I threw 8 touchdowns, my second game of my sophomore year, and that gave me a lot of confidence, and I just built from there and really started to be able to pick down defenses, and I just fell in love with the game.”
Trenton Frazer is also another name to recognize. This season, he broke the single-season rushing yards record. Frazer is proud of his accomplishments. He shares, “I worked as hard as I could every day in practice, but what really prepared me for this year was lifting in

the off-season. Going into this year, I felt stronger than I have in previous years, which gave me the confidence I needed to make the big plays. It was a feeling like my football career at Concord was coming to an end, but I would be leaving behind my legacy through the accomplishments I have achieved. It is a true testament to how doing what you are supposed to do pays off.”
As well as recognizing these accomplishments, we also recognized our veterans who have sacrificed their time and lives for the freedoms that our country enjoys. The event started at halftime as veterans from the Vietnam War to the Iraq War walked the track to get recognized for their heroic bravery in serving our country. One of the service members who was there was Mr. Eric Hutchinson, who served in the Iraq war and is also currently still serving. Mr. Hutchinson was asked what this event means to him. He shares. “ I think that Veterans Night is a good opportunity to recognize the veterans who have served and sacrificed for their communities. It’s just a good thing in general.”
These historic moments in Concord schools not only highlight the players’ talents on and off the field but also highlight the importance of community get-togethers as we celebrate something bigger than ourselves with the celebration of accomplishments and sacrifices to our country. We thank everyone who has supported the team this season, and also a big thank you to the veterans who came out on Friday to be recognized.
