Humorous, disciplined, athletic, this is Paul Herendeen. This week, we shine the spotlight on our one-of-one senior at Concord. Paul has made such an impact here, whether it be in athletics or by bringing a smile to people’s faces.
Herendeen enrolled here in third grade, left in eighth grade, and returned for online school during his freshman year, then returned fully in his junior year. His best memories here were mostly made on the sports track and field and cross-country teams, and the friendships they gave him.
His favorite things to do outside of school are fishing, hangouts preferably at a bonfire, yard work, profitable activities, and fitness like sports, but Paul does not intend to take his sports career professionally, or go to college; instead, he wants to go to the military. He is an official recruit of the United States Army and will report to bootcamp after graduation. He is most looking forward to the structure and discipline of the military.

Out of so many memories with his lovely siblings, Paul’s sister, Estee Herendeen, explains that she enjoys playing Fortnite with him and is always impressed by the craziest facts he gives; they’re always out of the box and things Estee would’ve never known without him. Paul’s brother, Jase Herendeen, loves to play basketball with him, and Jase’s favorite memory with Paul is winning against him for the first time. Two things Paul’s siblings love and admire about him are his intelligence and maturity.
Herendeen’s girlfriend of two years is senior Jasmine Carr. Jasmine has known Paul since the end of freshman year. She states, “He was a bit quiet and shy, but seeing him be more outgoing since then has made me very delighted. He never fails to make anyone laugh; even though his jokes can sometimes be interesting, he never fails to put a smile on people’s faces. He can be a little stubborn at times, but he has a good heart and is very respectful.”
Herendeen’s favorite teachers here are his math teacher, Mr. Buck, and Spanish teacher, Mr. Saucedo. Mr. Saucedo says his first impression of Herendeen was that he was very quiet at first, but once he got to know him, he was very humorous and responsible. Mr. Buck explains first impression was also a pretty quiet kid, and was also determined to get things done. Herendeen’s favorite things about both of these teachers are that he relates to them, whether it’s from their humor to their teaching demonstrations.
For any incoming freshmen, Herendeen has some advice for them. He states that you have to focus on the first quarter because that starts you off for the rest of you high school career and sports. He believes that you’ll drown in school work and always stay on the bench during sports.
Paul Herendeen is really someone special to look up to, and we would like to thank him for his impact and positivity on this school and our school’s sports!
