On Friday, the 26th, the boys played an impressive game against Morenci. Homecoming is a night most won’t forget, especially the varsity football boys. The crowd was loud and proud for the team, and the band and cheer team encouraged them to be even louder throughout the night, ending with Concord winning 70-20.

At the start of the first quarter, Trenton Frazier made the first touchdown of the night, thus adding to their confidence. At the end of the first quarter, the boys were 28-0. During the second quarter, the boys stepped up their game and ended the score with 50-8. During the halftime break, the homecoming court was announced, where two of the football players, Nate Fritz and Trenton Frazier, ran for homecoming king, and Adam Miller represented the junior class. After half-time, the boys were enthusiastic to play. Although the boys faced some difficulties in the third quarter, they ended the quarter with 62-20. In the fourth and final quarter, Nate Fritz had the last touchdown of the night, ending 70-20.

Having the first touchdown of any game is exciting, and for senior Trenton Frazier, it was a touchdown to remember, not only because it was the first touchdown, but also because it sparked confidence within the other players. Overall, Frazier had three touchdowns throughout the game. He always aims to be a leader and a great role model for all of the players. Looking back at the game, he thinks they can improve by “executing a bit better on some of our plays, and we need to wrap up when we are tackling.”

Junior Adam Miller plays many roles that help the team be successful, mainly linebacker or center. Throughout the night, Miller had tackled and assisted with tackling that helped push the team forward. While I was talking to him, he was genuine and ecstatic about everyone doing an amazing job. Going back before the game, he recognizes “having a great breakfast with my team… and before the game, I was locked in to win.”

Running back, middle linebacker, and kickoff returner, Jeff Thomas III, was excited for the wins and how he played throughout the night. Not even a second thought, Thomas III shouted out to “my O-line. Them having everything open for me to penetrate. And my coach.” Before the next game, he hopes that as a team, they will work on defense, the intensity in the defense, and locking in and staying locked in.
Concord Congratulates the boys for the big win on homecoming night. Their next game is on October 3rd at Pittsford. The boys will be playing at 5 pm. Concord wishes you luck against Pittsford.
