It’s homecoming week in Concord, and the boys were not the only ones taking the football field. The Lady Jackets suited up for Powderpuff Football on Wednesday, September 24, 2025—upperclassmen vs. underclassmen. The electric energy on both sides was apparent as varsity and JV football players coached their teams of brave athletes.

The game started with a Kickoff at 7 p.m., and from the first whistle, the energy on the field was unmatched. The girls played their hearts out. Both teams came ready to compete, but in the end, the upperclassmen took it all with a score of 26-0 on the final buzzer. Junior Bradie Lehman scored 12 points with 2 touchdowns, and Senior Ceirra Barrett scored 14 points with 2 touchdowns and 1 field goal.
Senior Gabriella Herzberg states, “This was so much fun, I really enjoyed it, and I feel like all of the girls had so much fun.” Whether on the field or cheering on their teammates from the sidelines, the smiles never left the ladies’ faces. The underclassman managed to keep in good spirits and play with laughter and smile the whole game as well, despite the scoreboard.
Laughter echoed across the field and smiles as far as you can see. Both teams cheered each other on, celebrated big plays, and enjoyed the night under the lights. Shouts of encouragement could be heard from both teams and coaches all night long.

Sophomore Rakai Hill also played in the Powderpuff game, and she shared, “My favorite memory from the game was when I got CeCe and Bradies flags down.” The Underclassmen, despite being younger and not as qualified, managed to come together in the end and make up great defensive plays, blocking 2 field goals from being kicked.”
Parents, students, and community members gathered at the field with high energy, excited to see what the girls had in store for the night. For both players and spectators, it was a night filled with memories, competition, community, and most importantly, fun for everyone.
A big thank you to all teachers, coaches, and staff who took the time to come and support the girls. Thank you to our referees, Mr. Lehman, Mr. Gray, and Mr. Burrow, for the amazing job they did with refereeing the game. Mr. Saucedo emceed the game and kept everything very fun, not only to watch, but for the fans to hear. The game was not only enjoyable for the girls on the field but for everyone watching.
