The National Honor Society recognizes students for their excellence in academics, leadership, service, and character. Our chapter of NHS held their annual induction ceremony on Wednesday, September 17th, in the Hive of Innovation. New members were formally invited to the club and celebrated for their achievements.
Jaylin Knobblet, the president of NHS, introduces, ¨National Honor Society is an organization to help our school. It’s about giving and not receiving. To me personally, I like to show leadership, and I try to do it as best as I can.¨ She encourages others to apply; it’s a great opportunity, especially if you want to go to college.

The NHS is a great way to get recognized by universities and future employers and stand out from the typical student. It looks great on college applications.
The NHS advisor, Ms. Taylor, adds, ¨NHS is something students should be thinking about in their freshman and sophomore year to apply in their junior year. The bare minimum requirement for the application is a 3.0 GPA or higher.¨

A new member of the NHS this year is Kristin Parker. She’s an outstanding student, academically and socially. She’s looking to go to CMU in the future. She adds on ¨NHS will help me with the four pillars and learning things about myself and others.¨ Parker is excited to be in NHS and is looking forward to the rest of the year.
Students who are interested in going to college should strive to be involved in NHS. Even as a junior, it is never too late to join in your senior year. Take new opportunities to improve not only yourself but also encourage others to do so as well.
