The Concord Yellowjackets have made their way back to school to start the 2025-26 year off with lots of changes. From new students to new schedules, many great changes are happening in the high school this year.
The school has transitioned its schedule from six classes with seminar and block classes to seven-hour days, with each class being an hour long, and no seminar. Lots of students have expressed that they like the changes to the schedule and that it makes the day feel a lot faster.
In addition to the new class schedules, lunch and passing periods have been made longer to give kids extra time to do things like go to the bathroom, lockers, and maybe even have a little time to chat with their friends in between classes. This schedule was designed so that fewer kids would be tardy to their classes and in the hallways during the day. This gives them more time to learn and not miss valuable information and class time.
As well as the new schedule, this year, Concord has brought teaming to the tenth grade as well. Many of this year’s sophomores seem to be having mixed emotions about this situation due to it causing regular and honors classes to be combined. Sophomore Allie Morris states, “I don’t mind the tenth-grade teams; I just wish I knew what classes I would be in when I come to school in the morning.” Morris is an outstanding student and also spoke out about how much she enjoys the new 7-hour schedule.

This year, CHS has many new students, but we have also officially hired a new 9th-grade Algebra teacher, Mr.Krabel. He has been a great addition to the staff, and the students have nothing but positive things to say about him. Krabel states, “It’s great, I moved from a student teacher last year, so I was pretty familiar, so I was really excited that I was able to get the job here.” Krabel was a student teacher here at CHS last year, and he is overjoyed to be here at Concord with us this school year.
Once again, freshmen are moving their way up to high school and trying to find their rhythm in their new chapter of their lives. As of 2025, Concord is introducing honors classes to 9th graders with honors English, algebra, history, and science. Mrs. Fiero is a 9th-grade teaming teacher; she teaches biology. “I feel great about the 9th-grade teams; we work really well together, and we can have a little more control over things,” she says. “I think that the new honors classes are going really well; I’m excited to see how they progress. It is still very new for me, though, so there is still work in progress.”
They have also introduced an innovation class this year with Mr. Simmons. In this class, the students are taught how to take aspects of economics and creativity in CAD. They are taught to use TinkerCad, Fusion 360, or Onshape, and soon they will be opening a school store where students can go in and get things 3D printed.
As you can see, there have been a lot of great changes made within Concord schools, and everyone is really excited to see how these things can positively impact the school system.
