On Thursday, May 29th, the Junior class held a very successful fundraiser that brought the entire school together for a splash of fun, “Dunk-a-teacher.” The plan was simple: students could prepay to dunk their favorite teacher in cold water. As Mr. Jursek called the teachers up to their designated spot, cheers could be heard from the crowd, especially from the young ones.
The dunk tank was brought out to the center of the football field, where everyone gathered in the bleachers. Students lined up with their money in hand to take a shot at dunking their favorite (or least favorite) teacher. Among the brave teachers was Mrs. Sigman. Mrs. Sigman is the Health, Fitness, and Physical Education teacher here at Concord High School. As she was getting up on the board, cheers could be heard from the crowd. Mrs. Sigman describes her experience as “cold.” She shares, “ My favorite thing about the whole day was how enthusiastic the kids and adults were. It was fun seeing everyone, K-12, come together as a school and be together. It wasn’t so much fun getting dunked, but seeing everyone happy was fun.”
Another student who enjoyed watching their teacher get dunked was Jeffery Thomas. Thomas shares, “ It excited me seeing some of those teachers get dunked, I wish I had done it, but seeing other people dunking them was still just as cool. It was fun watching everyone get excited about it, especially the younger ones.” From a student’s perspective of getting dunked, Emma Burbo, a junior, shares a little about the experience. She explains, “It was a fun experience, but the water was cold. The purpose of the event was to raise money for our class so we could have more events for our senior year, like our senior luncheon, senior game night, senior sunrise, etc. But it was worth it.”

In conclusion, Dunk-a-Teacher was a success, bringing together students and teachers for a day of laughter and school spirit. Seeing the teachers and students get plunged in the water not only provided entertainment. The fun-filled day showed how much the staff and students engage with students in many unique ways, and we are beyond grateful for that. A huge thanks to everyone who participated and supported the eventto make great memories.
