On Wednesday, May 28, Students from juniors to freshmen came together to acknowledge their success as we approach the end of the school year. Not only are we acknowledging their success, but also their hard work and focus during the last four quarters.
As Mrs. Snyder began the awards ceremony, she recognized those with a GPA above 3.5 for all, then moved on to academic awards, finishing with awards for achievements in different subjects, including: Chemistry, Algebra, Art, English, History, etc.
Freshman Rakai Hill received many awards, including: GPA 3.5 or higher, the student of the year, First year world history, Health and Fitness, Honors English, Citizenship Award, Physical Education, and Academic Excellence. She was very appreciative of the awards she had received: “I love every class I had this year, and for them to notice my effort and love me as well made me feel proud and seen.” Rakai has set some goals for next year, stating, “Goals I have for next year are to improve my study habits to the best of my ability and to stay prepared for much more work and the due dates of it.” She explained how thinking about her future kept her motivated throughout the school year. Hill is very proud of how her freshman year has gone. As she advances to become a sophomore, she believes it will be different as she experiences new teachers and advancing a grade may seem a little more difficult with work at first. Rakai is shocked by how much she has improved and changed over the year and can’t wait to see what next year brings.
Sophomore Colton Gray is a very hard worker. He was successful in his freshman year and is proud to say he continued that success throughout his sophomore year. He has been motivated to complete all work to the best of his ability to maintain high grades, not only this year but for the next two years of high school: “I am very proud of my accomplishments, and it motivates me to continue to work hard towards my education.” Gray was very proud of receiving the grades that he worked so hard for, as well as the awards to acknowledge them. These awards include Second year math award, Honors Algebra 2, Academic excellence, GPA 3.5 or higher, President’s education, The Lehman Award, Honors English 10, Honors Chemistry, and United States History. Gray explained how he felt some classes were harder than others, but next year, he will continue to work towards increasing his studies with higher-level classes: “Goals for next year would be to challenge myself with harder classes and work towards more awards and increasing my knowledge for a successful future.”
Lastly, Junior Mina Slone has accomplished many things in the past three years, but as of her junior year, she has been recognized for two main achievements, other than GPA, for Advanced Chemistry and Anatomy. She is proud of how far she has come in those classes. She was very proud to receive those awards. Slone will be a senior next year and expresses her excitement but nervousness about being successful. ” Next year I plan to keep my positive grades trend to be able to get into colleges and as many scholarships as possible.” Slone has been succes

sful in choosing classes the last few years, as she has many credits already completed. “My schedule for next year is very different since I have most of my required classes already completed.”
Congratulations to all students who have received awards and worked hard throughout the year. Continuing to work hard throughout the year to be successful will pay off as you advance grades to graduate. We are excited to see growth throughout the rest of your high school years.
