On Friday, May 16th, the Concord Boys’ and Girls’ track and field teams had an excellent outing at the 2025 annual regional track meet. The boys had a standout performance, finishing 2nd overall. The girls achieved a remarkable feat, earning the title of 2025 Regional champions, winning 1st overall.
Many athletes showed exceptional talent and growth, obtaining All-Region Honors, and punching their ticket to the state meet, achieving great success in both individual and relay events.

The Lady Jackets earned first in the meet, beating out 15 other teams to earn the title of Regional champs! Their success was built up by the teamwork and grit of many individual events, and all of the relays. Qualifying for the state meet were the following athletes: Bradie Lehman in the 100m and 200m dash, Cieara Barrett in the 400m dash, Haley Stimer in the 1600m, and Annie Saenz in the high jump. The 400-meter relay team of Lehman, Saenz, Barrett, and Ryan also qualified.

Other athletes scored points and earned all regional honors without qualifying; those athletes being Hannah Ryan in the 100 and 200 200-meter dashes, running a personal best in both. Annie Saenz in the 400 Meter Dash, Cierea and Haley in the 800 Meter run, and Rakai in the 100 Meter hurdles. The 800-meter relay team of Rakai Hill, Amiah Ward, Saniya Newton, and Mya Barrett. The 3200-meter relay team of Mya, Saniya, Ciera, and Haley. In the field events, honored were Avery Arbuckle in shot put, Grace Thorrez in discus, and Mya Barrett in pole vault. It was a great night for the girls, and they are determined to continue their winning streak and bring home another championship title at the state meet on May 31st.
One girl who really performed well during the meet was sophomore Hannah Ryan. Ryan ran her fastest time ever in two events, earning her all-region honors in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Where Hannah really excelled at, were in her relays. Ryan was essential to her teams 4×100, 4×200, and 4×400 who all qualified for the state meet. Hannah scored lots of points throughput the meet and was really a big part in the Lady Jackets bringing it home.
Another athlete who really stood out was freshman Annie Saenz. In her first year of high school track, Annie got first place in every event she participated in, easily qualifying for the state meet. Saenz is going to state for the 4×100, 4×200, 4×400 meter relays, and the high jump. “It feels great that I was able to contribute and be such a crucial part in helping my team win regionals. It’s so exciting qualifying for states because I feel all my hard work has paid off!” Saenz also says, “The job’s not finished, and I’m ready to go even harder at states!”
Another person who is such a key part of the girls’ success is sophomore Bradie Lehman. Bradie was the only person to qualify for five events, really showing her determination and perseverance. Lehman qualified for the 4×100, 4×200, and 4×400 meter relay, being irreplaceable to the team’s relay squads. Bradie also qualified for the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, scoring many points and being essential to the team’s success. “I’m so glass all the hard work me and my teammates put in this year paid off; it’s so great to know that I helped win my team regionals. It felt great to beat some of the girls I previously lost to early in the season… just a testament to all the work we put in!” In only her sophomore year, Bradie is planning to lead her team to a state championship on May 31st!
The highlight of the boys’ meet was the performance of the 4×400 relay team of Connor Stevens, Trenton Frazer, Tylend Allen, and Hollis Mick, who blazed their way to a first-place finish, showcasing their speed and unmatchable teamwork, qualifying their relay for the state meet. Along with that relay team came the boys 4×100, 4×200, and 4×800, who all earned their ticket for the state meet. Other athletes who qualify for relay events are Jeff Thomas, Darrell Dean, Paul Herendeen, and Maddox Hutchinson.

Individually, the boys also excelled, having several athletes earn top finishes in their respective individual events, contributing to the team’s success. Sophomore Darrell Dean made a statement in the high jump, being the only team qualifier. Dean jumped an impressive 5’11 punching his ticket to states. “It feels really good to help my team get points and be able to score in everything I was able to do. I’m hoping to make some noise at states during my relays and high jump. ” Dean is extremely confident his team will win regionals next year, and loudly assert themselves in the state meet this year.
Another highlight of the meet came in the 110-meter hurdles, where Concord had two runners make the final and score points for the team. Freshman Marcus Gill and Sophomore Garrett Tyler earned 7th and 8th place out of 18 runners. Gill being one of two lone freshmen to score in this event, and Tyler shattering his record, running a 17.63.
One essential key to the boy’s success is Junior Hollis Mick. Mick excelled in all his events, qualifying for all four of them. Hollis got first in the 1600m race, 2nd in the 800m race, and 1st in both of his relays, showing his hard work, dedication, and speed. Hollis is ready to represent Concord and show out in the state meet!
Other event highlights include Connor Stevens earning 4th place in the 400m, Maddox Hutchinson finishing 2nd in the 1600m, Hutchinson earning 3rd in the 3200m, and Trenton Fraser finishing 4th in the 300m hurdles. With their sights set on even greater achievements, the Concord Boys’ Track team is poised to make a significant impact at the state level.
