As the weather changes into beautiful sunny days, students walked down to the park for the day to enjoy the new weather. The student council put together many activities to participate in, including lawn games, various sports, card games, food trucks, and music.
Another special event that was presented by junior, Jaylin Knoblett, was a treasure hunt for a small wooden medallion for students to find around the park. Bella Coppernoll found it first and was awarded a free lunch from the fast food restaurant of choice. ¨Ms. O came up with the idea of a scavenger hunt, and I decided to do it during summer kickoff, so we had the middle schoolers in Mr. Arbuckle’s class make the medallion ¨
Dustin Hamilton, a senior, adds how much he enjoys having a day to be outside and provides a nice break from school. ¨I enjoy spending time outside now that the weather is better; it will be a good memory to have with my friends.¨
Ms. Osterhout, the student council adviser, shares that they have been doing the summer kickoff for three years now. It started when her leadership class saw the elementary and middle school hosting a day in the park and decided

to try it in the high school. It was a huge success, and they decided to keep it in future years. ¨ It’s something fun towards the end of the year to look forward to, where everyone gets to hang out together, enjoy each other’s company, and it´s gone well, so we continue to do it.”
