As the seniors’ last year comes to an end, this week at CHS, Iyla Weeks organized a morning for all of the seniors to dress in pajamas and enjoy some breakfast with each other in the media center. This was a project for her Leadership class, but it created a memorable experience for seniors to connect with each other.
Early on Wednesday, before all the seniors ate their breakfast, they all gathered around and watched their senior sign-off video. The senior sign-off video is when all the seniors take the camera and record themselves writing their names on the lens as a goodbye to their high school years and other classmates.
Iyla shares, “It was good. I think everyone enjoyed it, and seeing the video while also seeing how many people are in our class, and everyone getting together to do that.”
Weeks set up the media center with posters and lights, and she also had soft music playing. For breakfast, the seniors were served bacon and sausage, as well as blueberry, chocolate chip, and regular pancakes. For drinks, she provided orange juice and water.
After the breakfast was over, Ms. O shared, ” I really didn’t have to do much. Iyla really did the whole project, amazing. So she mostly did it on her own, I just helped her open the door, or if she needed anything.”
When asked about his senior year, Dustin Hamilton mentions, ” My most memorable experience during my senior year was going to the student sections with my friends and hanging out.” It was apparent that he also enjoyed the breakfast with his classmates.
The senior class would like to thank Ilya for setting up the amazing video and breakfast. We hope all the seniors have a great summer and enjoy what’s next to come for them!
