As graduation approaches, Lleyton Bauman stands out as a senior who is respectful, kind, and witty. That is why we are excited to spotlight him this week.
Bauman has been here since kindergarten, and it has been a journey for him. In his free time, he enjoys working out in the weight room, hanging out with friends, and spending quality time with his family. This year, he has set many goals for himself: his top ones were to enjoy his senior year, not hold back, and get stronger. Bauman has had many favorite memories, but he finally came to a decision, fifth-grade camp. He says, “It was pretty fun. It is a great memory to look back on. Many things like my age, personality, and friends have changed and that’s the cool part.”

During high school, Bauman participated in track and field freshman year, boys’ golf all four years, and cross country all four years. He has also participated in NHS and Quizbowl. Coach Jur has seen Bauman grow in cross-country since freshman year. Coach Jur explains that Bauman has made him a better coach because he is “always trying to push kids to do more and reach their full potential.”
After high school, Bauman plans on going to Jackson College and taking lineman classes. Since he has been here since kindergarten he talks about how he will miss seeing his friends every day and will miss hanging out with everyone. On top of that, he shares what he is going to miss most about his brother, sophomore Liam Bauman: “I won’t be able to see him every day.” Even though he will miss everyone, he is excited about starting college, meeting new people, and starting to shape the next chapters in his life.

Liam Bauman enjoys having his brother around not only because Lleyton can drive him to school but also because he enjoys having someone to ask questions to who has already gone through it. Not seeing him around the school is what he is going to miss most because he has been there for him all through his time in school. Bauman doesn’t necessarily have a favorite memory, but he shares his most recent one that has been memorable to him: “This spring break when I went to Florida because we spent a lot of time together around the beach and we got to do fun stuff.”
Senior Dustin Hamilton has been friends with Bauman since kindergarten. Since they have been friends since kindergarten, it can be hard to pick their favorite memory since then. But the one that stuck out the most was all the times that they shared going to watch the sports games. While at the games, he might be watching the games and getting a free narration of the games done by Bauman himself. Making the memories more fun for Hamilton to look back on. During all their time together, Hamilton shares what makes him so unique: “He tries to bring the community closer as if he is friends with everyone. Which I respect.”
An aspect of their friendship Hamilton appreciates most is, “[he] motivates me to try my hardest in everything and stay with what I am passionate about.”

Although they haven’t been friends long, senior Riley Aiken enjoys hanging out with Bauman when he can. Over time, Aiken has grown to notice what makes him distinctive from others: “He doesn’t care about how people view him; he is unapologetically himself.”
Not only has he noticed recently about him: “He just recently got into fashion. He is styling his clothes, and his outfits have definitely gotten better.”
The teacher that he connected most with was the math teacher, Mr.Buck. Lleyton has had him for geometry but has known him for 6 years. Not only that they work out in the weight room after school. During their time together, Buck enjoys the conversations that they have because they can talk about anything. Buck shares, “His character. He is a kid with a character you would never question.”
Buck also adds, “He makes me do my core workouts during the winter, and it is hard. It makes me want to work harder.”
Looking back, he has learned many lessons during and outside of school his most memorable lesson was, “live in the moment. Don’t think too much about the past and the future. Be in the present and enjoy the moment that you have now.”
Congratulations, Lleyton Bauman, and Concord wishes you the best of luck in the next chapters of your life.
