As April comes to an end, teachers vote for another exemplary group of students to be awarded as April Student of the Month.
For the freshmen, Annie Saenz was chosen. She is an important member of the track team, excelling in both races and field events. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, doing her nails, and spending time with friends. Out of all of her classes, her favorite is Art with Mr. Couling. Saenz shares the reasoning behind this: “I just like being artistic and I like Mr. Couling.” After high school, she is not entirely sure what she wants to do, but she is currently considering studying interior design or architecture at Penn State or a school in Florida. To achieve these goals, she plans to keep her grades up and have a mindset that will help her succeed.
Next up is sophomore Kristen Parker. She is a member of the competitive cheer team and plans to participate in sideline cheer next year. Her hobbies include photography, sleeping, telling the funniest jokes, and hanging out with friends. Parker’s favorite classes this year are Health with Mrs. Sigman and Global Current Events with Jur. For a future career, she wants to be a recreational therapist. She shares what sparked this interest: “I went to work with my mom for a while at the senior home, and I would just help her out. I got really interested in what they do.”
For the juniors, Lane Blossom was picked. He is an active member of the baseball team and the NHS. He shares what he enjoys most about baseball: “I enjoy the amount of skill and the mental aspect of it. It forces you to keep your head in the game.” Other than baseball, he enjoys farming, which he explains is because he has grown up with it. After high school, he wants to continue farming by getting a degree in Agricultural Business and Agronomy. He is hoping to attend Michigan State to do this, then work at Beck’s Hybrids afterward as an agronomist and field specialist. To achieve these goals, he knows that school is important. He shares what has been his biggest help throughout high school: “Staying on top of things and forcing myself to do things that I do not want to do.”
Last but not least is senior Tobey Moore. His hobbies consist of playing basketball for fun, spending time with friends, and hanging out with his girlfriend. His favorite class is currently Personalized Fitness 2.0 with Mrs. Sigman. He explains why: “I like the idea of being active and exercising, especially when you are not playing a sport.” Next year, he is planning to attend Jackson College to get a degree in Business. He shares what he will do with this: “I want to open my own store and sell shoes.” After spending the past few years at Concord, he has made many memories. He explains that his favorite day was his first day here. He says, “When I first got here, it was my first day and I was in Mr. Clark’s class talking to Mehki. He is way better than me at basketball, but I was just talking crap, telling him he sucked and that I was way better than him. That was funny.”
Congratulations to all of the students chosen this month, and we wish you the best of luck in everything you do in the future.
