More teachers need student teachers for extra help. Thankful for the extra help in the classrooms, we have two student teachers at Concord High School: Mr. Yokum and Mr.Kraabel. Mr. Yokum teaches history with Mrs. Taylor, and Mr.Kraabel teaches math.
Mr. Yokum came to Concord High School in February. He is attending Grand Canyon University online to become a teacher. He enjoys playing video games, like Rocket League, in the diamond rink. He enjoys student teaching. His favorite thing about Concord is ¨the students are very welcoming, I know having someone new come in at the end of the year can be pretty annoying. Especially because I am supposed to be taking over for a teacher you have grown with.¨

Mr. Yocum’s student, Pyper Norris, explains what it is to have him in class: ¨He is really nice to have around and helps me a lot.¨ Norris likes having another perspective in the classroom other than the regular teacher. ¨I think it helps a lot with him being there; he has been making our assignments, and he makes them fun and quick to do.¨ Norris explained.

Mr. Kraabel started with us at the beginning of the year. He is attending Spring Arbor University. He is enjoying student teaching because, ¨it’s been fun getting to know all of them and working with them, seeing how my classes in school go with my teaching.¨ Mr. Kraabel’s favorite part about Concord is ¨the students, it’s been really fun getting to know everyone and working with them, helping them along the way.¨
One of Mr. Kraabel’s students, Jessica Clouser, explains how she feels about him being in class: ¨I think it’s a good experience for him, but also stressful. He is learning a lot about becoming a teacher and has become more confident since the beginning of the year.¨ Clouser thinks he is helpful in the classroom, ¨because he can explain it in a new way, which helps me understand better. And I get quicker help on an assignment.¨ Clouser explained. Having Mr. Kraabel is effective and beneficial in the classroom.
We appreciate our student teachers and all they have helped with throughout the school year.
