A huge display of school spirit and creativity came to life in the high school gym on Wednesday, March 19. The senior class put together a unique fundraiser that had students from kindergarten through 12th grade screaming for joy.
The idea for “Tape Mr. Parker to the Wall” was simple and effective; students at CHS could have prepaid for a few strips of duct tape or bought some when the event was happening, which led to the hilarious mission of taping Mr. Parker to the wall.

Iyla Weeks was the original planner for the fundraiser of the senior class. Weeks shares, “First off, I would like to thank everyone who participated in my event, Tape a Teacher. All the funds go to the senior class to plan more events to make our senior year more memorable.” When asked about some of the struggles faced with planning the event, Weeks explains, “It was very difficult to not stress about chaos or things not running smoothly due to it being a K-12 event. There were a lot of people there, and it was overwhelming, but it was organized, and in the end, it all ran super smoothly. The main purpose was to give students a fun event and come together as a school. I wanted it to be enjoyable for everyone and to help raise money for the senior class.”
The gym was full of laughter and cheers, especially from the younger kids. Mr. Jurasek could be seen in the crowd with many kids yelling, “Tape him to the wall”. Excited to see Mr. Parker get taped to the wall, and we greatly appreciated his willingness to bring together school participation with the crowd excited to watch.
Mr. Parker is the middle school principal and head coach for our girls’ varsity basketball team. When asked how it went, he responded, “It was really fun at first, but when it kept going, I lost circulation in my arm and in my leg; it was a very uncomfortable feeling. The reason I said yes was because it wasn’t about me; it was for them. Even though it was not a good experience, it was fun doing it for them.”

At the end of the day, the senior class has raised money for a fundraiser for future moments that they will cherish for the rest of their lives. As we look ahead to fundraisers that are in future fundraisers, we thank the senior class for bringing a laugh to the school and bringing creativity to Concord. We would also like to thank Mr. Parker for his willingness to get taped to the wall.
