There’s nothing quite like a day spent in the mountains, gliding down snowy slopes, surrounded by friends and fresh winter air. This year’s high school ski trip was an unforgettable adventure—filled with excitement and a few dramatic wipeouts. From first-timers to seasoned skiers, everyone embraced the challenge, making the most of a perfect winter day.
The day began before sunrise as students bundled up and piled onto the bus. Despite the early hour, the energy was high—movies played, conversations buzzed, and plenty of students speculated about who would take the first (or worst) fall of the day. After a scenic drive through frost-covered trees and winding mountain roads, we finally arrived at the resort, greeted by crisp air and pristine slopes.
We wasted no time gearing up and heading out onto the trails. The resort offered a variety of runs, from gentle slopes perfect for beginners to thrilling, fast-paced trails that challenged even the most experienced skiers.
When asking Annie Saenz how she was feeling, she says, “I was very nervous at first, but I overcame it by listening to the instructor when getting a lesson and trusting myself.’’
For many students, this trip marked their first time on skis. Some started cautiously, learning to balance and slowly making their way down the bunny hill under the patient guidance of instructors. Others found themselves tangled in their skis more often than not but took every fall with a laugh.
Junior Jaylin Knoblett tells me, “Going down the mountains with my friends and all of us falling was very funny and memorable.”
Meanwhile, experienced skiers wasted no time tackling the more advanced trails, carving their way down the mountain with confidence. Some even challenged themselves to race one another, speeding down the slopes while trying not to wipe out spectacularly in the process.
By lunchtime, everyone was ready for a well-deserved break. Inside the cozy ski lodge, students swapped stories of their best (and worst) runs while warming up with hearty meals. The atmosphere was full of energy and laughter echoed through the dining area as students recounted their most epic wipeouts and celebrated their small victories.
After refueling, we headed back out for a few more hours of skiing, determined to make the most of our time on the slopes. Some took it easy, enjoying the scenic routes, while others pushed themselves to improve their technique before the day ended.
Tylend Allen explains, “If I had known what the weather was going to be like, I would have brought some goggles and a neck cover.”

As the afternoon sun began to set, it was time to pack up and head home. Tired but happy, we loaded onto the bus, our legs sore but our spirits high. Some students dozed off immediately, while others stayed awake, scrolling through photos and videos from the day.
Whether we spent the day conquering steep trails, perfecting our turns, or simply laughing with friends, one thing was certain—this ski trip was a day to remember. And as we pulled back into school, there was already talk of doing it all over again next year.
We all had a perfect time thanks to Mrs. Sigman, Mrs. Taylor, Mr. Parker, and the whole team of Caberfae Peaks.
