It is Snowcoming week at Concord High School. Due to MLK Day and the inclement weather, Concord schools were closed Monday through Wednesday, cutting into our spirit week. School resumed on Thursday, January 23, 2025. This left the students and staff only two days in their spirit week. Thursday continued as Throwback Thursday where the Jackets were encouraged to dress up in clothing inspired by their favorite decade. On Friday, everyone showed off their school spirit wearing purple and gold. Later Friday afternoon, there was a pep assembly to help get everyone excited and ready for the basketball game and dance.

During the pep assembly, the winter sports teams and court were announced, and the students played games such as a hula hoop contest, finishing the lyrics, mattress racing, and musical chairs with a twist, resistance band racing. The cheerleaders led the students in the battle cry chant, seniors came out on top, freshmen fell just behind, then juniors and sophomores.
Foreign Exchange student and Senior Helena Naumann states, “I love how much school spirit is shown at the pep assembly, and I love how everyone supports everyone. The games were enjoyable to watch and participate in.” All students cheered for their classmates as they battled for class points, everyone wanting to win. The class who wins gets to guard the spirit stick for the next year.

Freshman Rachel Rundle shares that, “In the future, I would like to see more hype games and more people excited to play. I think that the games were fun, but they could have been changed up a little more from homecoming games.” Sometimes the games can get repetitive, so changing them up from time to time can get the crowd more involved.
The banners were voted on at the end of the day, freshmen came out in 4th, sophomores in 3rd, juniors in 2nd and seniors came out on top in 1st place. The pep assembly turned out to be a great success in getting everyone excited for the basketball game and the Snowcoming dance.
