Our boys’ basketball team faced the Maple Valley Lions on the night of Snowcoming, resulting in an exciting win. The final score was 71-38. A great night for the boys led into a dazzling night for students to get together and have a great time at the dance.
The boys’ coach Marcus Gill shares a few words about the team: “I just loved the way we played together on both ends. If we can continue to do that, we finish out this year on a special run.” He also shares he feels that offensively the boys are starting to understand the plays and learning to be unselfish with the ball.
Brady Garrett scored 20 points, making him the night’s top scorer. Connor Stevens was right behind him with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Darrell Dean scored 14 points, and Jett Smith scored 9. The boys are now 5-3 in the Big 8 and 8-7 overall.

Junior Gavin Riske shares his opinion on the team’s improvement: “We scored well, passed the ball, shared the ball, and executed a few plays we worked on.” He also shares a few things the team could work on, like their defense. He feels that it is the number one thing that they need to succeed.

Junior Tyler Rundle adds, “So far we have got a lot more chemistry on the team and our offense is flowing better than it was, and as long as we keep doing our defense it’s only gonna get better for our offense.” Rundle also shares that the team let up on their defense a little and let Maple Valley get some easy points; this is an area he thinks the team can improve on.
On the other hand, our junior varsity unfortunately lost 36-44. It was an exciting game, and they fought hard all the way to the end. They all kept at it and never gave up. It was visible that they really wanted to win, and their dedication is an excellent way to view the team.
The boys have their next home game on Tuesday, January 27. The JV game starts at 5:30 pm and Varsity is at 7 pm. Come and show your support for the Concord Yellowjackets!
