This evening Concord High School’s gymnasium was filled with basketball fans as well as friends and families waiting with anticipation to see who this year’s king and queen would be. There were representatives from all classes dressed in their very best, representing their class as the crowd cheered them on.
The king was crowned first. Returning 2024 Snowcoming King Carter Arbuckle did the honors of placing the sash. As the candidates stepped forward, Arbuckle waved the sash over each candidate and stopped at Jayden Carpenter-Sattler. The look of surprise on his face was apparent as he was handed a basketball signed by the varsity team. When asked how he felt when he realized he had been chosen, Carpenter-Sattler shares, “I was surprised honestly, I’ve been saying I’m going to win it, but I didn’t expect to win it, but you know it’s cool”.
Next, 2024’s Snowcoming Queen Gwendolyn Bulko returned to crown the lucky recipient. Bulko raised the sash and moved it over all the candidates until she placed it on this year’s Snowcoming Queen, Grace Thorrez. Thorrez smiled with delight when she realized what was happening. When asked how she felt when they announced her name she explains, “ I was nervous and my hands were shaking, and it felt unreal.” Thorrez continues, “It feels amazing and an honor to represent my senior class.”
Congratulations to Jayden and Grace as well as the other candidates for representing their senior class. We are proud of all of you!
