Last Friday Jaylin Knoblett, Helena Nauman, and Emma Burbo hosted a pie-the-teacher event during seminar. They had teachers sign up to be the recipients, and students paid for the pies to donate to a surprise for a leadership project. The teachers pied were Mrs. Osterhout, Ms. Taylor, Mrs. Sigman, Mr. Couling, and Mr. Reniche.
Jaylin Knoblett and Helena Nauman hosted a teacher for a fundraiser. “We’re doing a big kindness project in leadership and needed the money to support it.” Knoblett explained, “so there will be a big surprise coming up.” They were inspired from the idea from last year’s leadership students Iyla Weeks and Danni Fritz.
Nauman, a Foreign exchange student this year, also helped host it. I asked how she felt about it, and she explained that, “it was really fun.” She continues, “They don’t do things like that in Germany, so it was good to experience something like that.”
One of the teachers who was pied was Mr. Couling. He thought this was a good way to raise money for our fun activities, and he said, “I feel like this was a great fundraiser and that more teachers would have participated if they knew. I didn’t mind getting pied or a whole can on my head.” Mr. Couling, a great sport, was one of the ones who was pied over and over by multiple people.
A student who participated was Alek Warner, Warner only pied Mr. Couling. Warner explained, “I had fulfillment out of it, and it was a good cause for leadership.” Along with Warner, we all thought it was a good cause and a fun way to end a Friday.
