Concord High School is again establishing Student of the Month for the 2024-2025 school year. A Google form was sent to all of the teachers, giving them a chance to vote for someone from each grade to win this award. Now, here is a little insight into each student chosen for October.
First up is freshman Jessica Clouser. She enjoys playing volleyball, reading, drawing, and painting in her free time. Since it is only her freshman year, she is not certain on what she wants to go into as a future career but shares what she is interested in: “I want something to do with biology and study animals. I also want a good-paying job with a lot of free time to be able to do my own things as well.” Clouser adds what she plans to keep doing in school to maintain the standard that earned her student of the month. She says, “I am not going to give up and continue to have a lot of motivation, but remember to not put too much pressure on myself.”
Next is sophomore Amanda Smith. Her hobbies include crafting, going outside, listening to music, collecting things, and doing anything hands-on. Since she loves those activities, her favorite class is Art with Mr. Couling. She adds that her favorite part of going to school is getting to spend time with her friends. In terms of her future, she is very passionate about what she wants to do. She says, “I want to work at or own a bakery. The atmosphere is so calm and quiet. I also love making things and baking, so it is kind of just something I will enjoy.” Smith adds some tips she has for other students to succeed in school: “Be nice and respectful to others.”
For the juniors, Julia Stevens was chosen. Her hobbies include reading, doing photography, and spending time with her family. When asked about her future goals, she explains, “I want to go to college after high school and major in psychology; I am not sure what I want to do with that degree. I also want to continue to do photography.” Stevens also shares some tips she has for other students to do well in school. She says, “I think the biggest thing is completing your work on time. I also think that it is important to ask questions when you do not understand something so that you can learn from the assignments you do.”
Last but not least is senior Riley Aiken. He enjoys doing many things in his free time; his favorites include drawing, building, woodworking, playing video games, reading, and doing anything to do with science. When asked what his motivation to do well in school is, he responded, “My main motivation to do well in school is mainly college because if I do better in school, I will do better in college. It will overall be easier, but besides that, I just want to be a good student to be a better peer to other students.” In terms of his future goals, Aiken explains that he wants to go into the environmental science field. He says, “I want to go to college and further my studies. My career goals would be anything to do with environmental science, whether that be ecology or wildlife biology.”
Congratulations to all of this month’s winners. We wish them the best of luck in their future and continued success throughout their school careers!
