Introducing Miss Fields! A bright and ambitious new teacher ready to take on the year with us here at Concord Community Schools. Since kindergarten, Miss Fields has always dreamed of becoming a teacher, and she went on to pursue that dream after graduating from Spring Arbor University. When I spoke with Miss Fields about beginning her journey as a teacher at Concord, she showed excitement and stated “I’m really excited for my first experience here at Concord, and so far it’s everything I’ve dreamed of!”
Miss Fields has a list of hobbies and interests both inside and outside of school. Throughout college, she played soccer, although she enjoys all sports in general. Along with sports, she enjoys reading, going shopping, video games, and like most of us, seemingly endless scrolling through TikTok. But math is also her hobby, her passion, and most importantly her career. Miss Fields said that throughout the evening, she thinks about math and what she hopes to accomplish the next day in her class.
Miss Fields teaches a wide variety of different math curriculums throughout 7-12th grade, such as Algebra 1 & 2, Pre-Calculus, and Advanced Math. She mentioned that in her classroom she wants math to be fun for everyone and that she wants to implement her own unique passion for math and to pass it on to all of her students. “I try to bring my own love and energy for math to make it more fun for everyone because, at the end of the day, it’s always the same, but I always try to make it fun and make my students laugh,” she exclaimed. Miss Fields mentioned that when students are well-behaved and ahead or on target, she offers rewards for her students. She went on to state that, “At the end of the year, I don’t care whether or not my students will remember what I taught them in math, I just hope they remember the impact I’ve had on them to make them better for themselves.”
Miss Fields wanted to express her gratitude and excitement for her future students and for the rest of her first year at Concord. “To everyone, thank you! I’m really excited to be here at Concord, and I welcome everyone with open arms, and it’s going to be an amazing year!”
