The girls’ golf team capped off a successful season by competing in the state finals, finishing in 15th place with a total score of 881 points. Although the competition was fierce, the team’s dedication and resilience were on full display as they faced off against the top schools in the state. This is a significant achievement for the team, marking the culmination of a season filled with determination and grit.
The team improved steadily throughout the season on its way to the state finals. Their collective dedication paid off when they secured their spot with a third-place finish at regionals.
Competing against much larger schools, the girls have shown that size doesn’t define success. The team has consistently demonstrated impressive skills on the green, earning their place at the state and making the school incredibly proud. Coach Mike Bauman praised their performance.
Team Captain Hannah Stimer says that, “It is amazing to have this experience together with my team. We had a team dinner, and I really enjoyed that.” She also stated, “I personally just tried to have the best time possible because it is my last year at Concord.”
Each of the eight players contributed to this success, pushing themselves to improve with every round. Their journey to state wasn’t easy, but they overcame challenges together, supporting one another every step of the way. For many of the girls, this is their first experience competing at such a high level, and it has provided invaluable experience and confidence for future seasons.
Senior Grace Thorrez is relieved. She says that, “It just feels good to finally make it there after 3 years of hard practice.’’ “Never give up!” is the advice she gives younger players. She also encourages athletes to persevere: “You will be struggling, but you will make it just try your hardest.’’
Although they placed 15th, this is just the beginning for the team. With this achievement, they are already setting their sights on even greater goals next year. The support from the school and community has been overwhelming, and we are all excited to see what the future holds for these incredible athletes.
