Leadership senior Alek Warner brought us together last Friday by organizing a dodgeball game at the end of the day. Warner organized this activity he explained, “to have fun and bring people together.” Alek’s leadership project was a good way to have fun, take a break during seminar, play a game with friends, and maybe even meet people students probably never interacted with before. Even though Warner organized the activity, he also joined a team when another team was short-handed.
Students from each grade joined in on the dodgeball game for example Mason Davis, Nate Fritz, Mya Barret, and Christian Castro. Mason Davis and Christian Castro were on the same team going against Nate Fritz. Fritz’s team won against Davis’s team. Fritz humbly shared that he believes their strongest player is himself and then he suggested Tobey Moore. Fritz played this year because he won last year on the same team. Fritz’s weakness is aim, but he shares that his strength is being powerful because as he explains, “I throw it hard because I play baseball, so it’s easy.”
Davis’s reason to play this year is because it’s something fun to join. and play Mason doesn’t know his strengths but he says, “I have no weaknesses, I’m him.” According to Davis, who obviously has high regards for this particular teammate, the most valuable player on his team is Christian Castro.
Castro volunteered to play because it was with his friends, maybe even his bromance Davis, and because it sounded fun. His strengths as he explains are “taking hits for other people.” His weakness is throwing the ball accurately.
Playing on a separate team was freshman phenom Mya Barret, who played because her friends asked her to be an extra player. Barrett feels that the strongest player on her team was, “probably Liam [Bauman] because he lasted the longest every time and was getting everyone out.” Her strengths are dodging, and she feels that her weakness is that she can’t throw accurately.
Concord High School students need to make sure their grades are up with no failing grades to participate in and cheer on future leadership events. We appreciate the time and effort the leadership students put into these events and want everyone to enjoy them.
