Homecoming season is upon us once again! Last week, the classes chose their representatives for the football game next Friday, and we are proud to introduce the court for Homecoming 2024!
Starting with the freshman, the male representative chosen is Hunter Watts, the son of Kenny and Kara Watts. He is a participant in JV football, JV basketball, and JV baseball. Watts’s favorite class is Spanish with Mr. Saucedo. In his free time, he likes to fish, golf, hang out with his girlfriend Addi, and hang out with his friends. He shares what he is most excited about, “I am excited for the football game, and I am excited to walk with Addi.”
The freshmen’s female representative, Addison Riske, is the daughter of Josh and Dana Riske. In terms of sports, Riske participates in JV volleyball, JV basketball, JV softball, and club volleyball. Her two favorite classes are Spanish with Mr. Saucedo and Math with Ms. Fields. Her hobbies include playing sports, shopping, and hanging out with her boyfriend, friends, and family. She explains what she is most excited for: “Being in the parade and walking on the football field. I am excited for it all!”
Next up is the male sophomore representative. Eli Krieger is the son of Josh and Ashley Krieger. He is a part of the JV football team. His favorite class is Art with Mr. Couling. Outside of school, Krieger enjoys eating and hanging out with his friends. His excitement is coming for the football game: “I am excited to walk on the football field at half time and to play in the last second of the fourth quarter.”
The female sophomore candidate this year is Avery Arbuckle. She is the daughter of Mike and Amanda Arbuckle. Arbuckle is very involved in sports; she participates in JV volleyball, varsity golf, and varsity basketball. Along with playing sports, Arbuckle participates in Student Council, showing livestock, 4-H, and the Crossroads Youth Group. Currently, her favorite classes are Spanish II with Mr. Saucedo and MHSAA. Her activities include showing pigs, hanging out with friends, and sleeping. She is excited for this opportunity and says, “I am the most excited to wear a sparkly dress. I am also excited and honored to be on court.”
Next up is the junior representative. The first representative is Gavin Riske, the son of Josh and Dana Riske. He is a part of the varsity football, varsity basketball, varsity golf, and varsity baseball teams. His favorite class this year is Global Current Events with Jur. His favorite activities consist of hunting, hanging out with his dad and Uncle Jordan, golfing, and reminding his dad who the better football player is. Since he will be playing in the game, that is what he is most excited about. Riske says, “I am excited to play Pittsford and to see how we do. I am also excited for the pep assembly.”
The second representative for the junior class is Lilieana Vandenburgh. She is the daughter of Bob and Veronica Vandenburgh. She is a participant in the varsity volleyball and varsity track teams. Vandenburgh is also a member of the CHS student council. Her two favorite classes are Hydroponics with Mrs. Colangelo and Seminar with Mrs. Osterhout. When she is not in school, she likes to go shopping and hang out with her friends, specifically Macy Sinden. As a whole, she is thrilled to be on, she shares, “I am excited to be in the parade and am excited to be on court.”
Now, it is time to introduce our king and queen candidates.
The first male representative is Dustin Hamilton. He is the son of Don and Tina Hamilton. He plays on the varsity baseball and varsity cross-country teams. He is the assistant coach for the varsity volleyball team, a member of the National Honor Society, and the recipient of the DAR award. After high school, he plans to attend college to continue with his baseball career and study sports management. He is thrilled about the opportunity as a whole: “I am excited to be able to represent my class and get to share the experience with my friends as well. I am also excited to get to ride in the parade.”
Walking with Hamilton is Iyla Weeks. She is the daughter of Dan and Emily Weeks. Sportswise, Weeks participates in varsity volleyball and varsity track. In terms of clubs, she is a participant in NHS, student council as the PR officer, and club volleyball. Her favorite classes this year are Plant Science with Mrs. Colangelo and Leadership with Mrs. Osterhout. Weeks’s hobbies include painting, pottery, hanging out with friends, and learning new instruments. Next year, she is hoping to play volleyball at Spring Arbor and study Digital Marketing and business to become an entrepreneur. When asked what she is excited about for this Homecoming, she says, “I am excited to dress up with my friends and to experience it my senior year.”
The next king candidate, Jordan Medellin, is the son of Aaron and Heather Mehl. He is a part of the varsity baseball, varsity football, and varsity basketball teams. He is also an active member of NHS, the student council secretary, and plays on a travel baseball team. His favorite classes are strength and conditioning with Mrs. Sigman and Plant Science with Mrs. Colangelo. In his free time, Medellin enjoys hanging out with his friends and playing video games. Next year, he is hoping to play baseball for a college and study sports management. He is excited about next Friday and the opportunity, he explains, “I am excited for the football game and to get to play. I am more than honored to be representing the senior class and beyond blessed.”
Paired with Medellin is Hannah Stimer. She is the daughter of Bart and Kiersten Stimer. She plays golf, basketball, and softball all on the varsity level. Stimer is also the president of the student council and a member of NHS. Her favorite classes are AP Lit with Mrs. Osterhout and Plant Science with Mrs. Colangelo. Her hobbies consist of hanging out with her friends and family and doing things around the farm. After high school, she is planning to pursue a career in early childhood education. Stimer is thrilled about the events that are occurring next week: “I think that I am most excited for the parade and the pep assembly.”
The next male representative is Riley Aiken. He is the son of Shanon and Misty Cox. His favorite classes are Environmental Science with Mrs. Fiero and art with Mr. Couling. His free time consists of a few hobbies; some of his favorites include listening to music and photography. In the future, his goal is to attend college. When asked what his thoughts about being on the court are, he replied, “I think it is really nice that I got the opportunity to be on court. I was surprised because I did not promote myself a lot. It is just awesome to be around my friends on court.”
Aiken is paired to walk with Danni Fritz. She is the daughter of Andy and Becky Fritz. She plays for the varsity softball team and is the vice president of the student council. This year, Fritz’s favorite classes are AP Lit with Mrs. Osterhout and Art with Mr. Couling. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, shopping, kayaking, and swimming. After graduation, she is planning to attend college to get a degree in marketing. When asked what she is most excited about for next week, Fritz responded, “Probably all of Friday’s events, specifically the pep assembly and the parade.”
Next up is the son of Mike and Pam Bauman, Lleyton Bauman. He is a runner for the varsity cross-country team and a member of the boys’ varsity golf team. Bauman is also a member of NHS and attends church services at Radiant Church. His favorite class is Pre-Calc with Ms. Fields. Outside of school, he likes to work out and spend time with his friends. Next year, he will be attending college to major in electrical engineering or environmental science. Bauman was also on court last year, he shares: “I am most excited to have a rerun to walk out on the field when it is not pouring rain.”
Paired with Bauman is Taylor Cole. She is the daughter of Chuck and Angie Cole. She is a member of the varsity softball and golf teams. Cole is also a part of the NHS, student council, and does photography. Her favorite classes are science, specifically Anatomy with Mrs. Fiero. Her hobbies include going to the gym, tanning, and hanging out with her friends and family. After high school, she is planning on going into anesthesiology and studying her first four years at Grand Valley State University. She shares her excitement for next Friday, “I am most excited about getting dressed up and being on court with my whole friend group. I am also excited to experience walking out for the pep rally and the football field for the actual court representation.”
Our last male candidate is Mason Davis. He is the son of Justin and Sadie Davis. He participates in Varsity-level football. He enjoys any science class, and his favorite class this year is Personal Finance with Mr. Buck. In terms of college, Davis is going to attend Albion College to get his applied science degree to hopefully become a power plant operator in the future. Davis is excited for the people who will be in the stands for him, he explains, “I am excited for my mom and dad to be able to see me out there.”
Paired with Davis is Izzabelle Lagow. She is the daughter of James Siefert and Annie Lebron. Her two favorite classes this year are Senior Art with Mr. Couling and English 12 with Mrs. Couling. After she is done with high school, she is going to go to a trade school for nursing. Overall she shares that she is very excited: “It is my last year and I am excited to walk out on the football field.”
