On this home game, it was Concord girls’ basketball team vs Quincy. Although Quincy did their best, they weren’t a match for the Lady Jackets. The final score for the JV was 66-21, and the final score for Varsity was 54-38.
Throughout the JV game, the Lady Jackets had a well-balanced offensive attack. This aggressive yet protected play style allowed Marissa Mandrelle to lead the team with 15 points, Reagan Mehl followed closely with 14 points, Haley Stimer kept up with 13 points, and Avery Arbuckle with a solid 10 points. Along with the other girls chipping in their share of points the game ended with a score of 66-21.
After an impressive game for the JV girls, Mehl explains her performance, “I feel like I did pretty good overall but especially with getting a bunch of points quickly in the first quarter.”
Not only does Mehl know how well she did, she also acknowledges her teammate’s abilities, “I would say Lily stepped up for taking point guard and doing something she doesn’t usually do.” Mehl describes her appreciation for her teammates and how adaptive they are.
The Varsity Lady Jackets had an impressive performance, Hannah Stimer sunk 5 3-pointers helping her achieve a 17-point lead for the team, Cece Barrett scored 14 points, Bradie Lehman added 9 points, and Grace Thorrez chipped in 8 points. With these scores and more coming from the rest of the team, it led to an ending score of 54-38.
The Varsity team did phenomenal and Thorrez recognizes this through her thoughts on Hannah Stimer, “I believe Hannah Stimer was a key part of the team and kept us in the lead.” Thorrez explains how Hannah Stimer showed up during the game.
Ella Woolworth is another player on the Concord Varsity team who appreciates her team and how they synergize, “I feel like the team worked well together and had good effort.”
With this latest win, Concord is now 2-0 in the Big 8 and 3-2 overall. Their next game is December 21st in Manchester, and we wish the Lady Jackets the best of luck!
