Christmas band concert delights audience
On December 15th, the CHS band put on their annual Christmas concert. Every year, they play multiple pieces to get their audience in the Christmas spirit.
This year they performed three songs. They opened with “Charlie Brown Christmas”, then “Holly and the Ivy”, and finished with “Sleigh Ride”.
In all of the songs, there were special guests. During “Charlie Brown Christmas”, CHS band alumni Christina Prater conducted. Stand-out beginners joined the band during “Holly and the Ivy”. While they played their last song, “Sleigh Ride”, all CHS band alumni were welcome to join.
Mr. Specht, the band director thinks the band did very well. He says, “This year they did fewer pieces, but they were more challenging pieces.” “Sleigh Ride” was very difficult due to the really fast and high notes. “Charlie Brown Christmas” was also difficult because it was so long and had many different styles of music.
Senior band member Hannah Jordan is happy about the end result of the concert. She says, “I think the concert went really well. Everyone put in a lot of effort for the good end results.” Jordan is glad to have had a good last Christmas concert as a senior.
Tyson Walker shares, “This is the best concert we have had in the last few years. We really had to come together because of the more challenging pieces.” He really liked playing “Sleigh Ride” because of how challenging it was.
Every year, the concert brings joy to many people who come to watch. The band worked hard to put this together and is very happy about how it went.
